There's no denying that 2019 was Rebecca's breakthrough year. Having decided with her manager Colin Speller to set her own direction and make the album she (and fellow song writer Steve Birkett) had always wanted to make, Rebecca finally broke free of her "great blues singer" label and became the premier voice of rock with a blues motif. She is also a massive friend of Revolution Radio Online, allowing us to do a special launch of the album, playing songs before other stations had them.
Later, she broke through onto Planet Rock with the hit singles If I Go To Sleep, Hurts and the awesome title track from More Sinner Than Saint, and has captured the hearts of so many rock and blues rock fans with her incredible live performances.
Here on RRO, she is a regular play on The Doc's Blues Rock Show, The Baron's Rock Show, The Dame's Mix Up and Ms Deed's Adventures in Music, as well as having her own feature on The Wednesday Supplement, REBECCA DOWNES SINGS, which includes her fabulous podcast "Downes Your Way".
For her great support she has become known as "The First Lady of the Revolution" by listeners to the station, and now, that identity is firmly entrenched by being the first winner of a REVOLUTION ROAR!
