This is the chatroom for listeners of our Café venue, to hang out in and let out their inner Lebowski (far out maaaaaaaaaan!). The Cafe is where you will find jazz rock, psychedelic, prog and fusion. This is not plinky plinky jazz but instead true jazz rock, prog & psychedelic fusion, with the likes of Miles Davis, early YES, ELOY, Episode 6, Weather Report and Gong in the playlist.
Temporarily going out on an adhoc basis, each show will have a promo put up and on show night, listeners are then invited to comment and post and chat on that post. Comments and replies can include a mix of text, gifs, videos and images.
Hmmm, so anyway...
Over the last few months the material in the show has expanded to incorporate genres that don't comfortably sit in the other shows, even though they are experimental and often, early rock or prog fusion. Furthermore, there was no home at all for the Psychedelic movement, and so I'd been playing some vinyl psychedelic on the show, which has gone down very well.
So, we've changed the name simply to "The Cafe", a place where we can bring lots of experimental music with a jazz or psychedelic back bone, including fusion with rock, prog and even a little funk. Don't worr, we're still primarily a jazz fusion show, we've just expanded the definition somewhat.
See you all soon.
Yes, we've changed the name AND the start time.
When Doc and I started the show, it was really about making a statement that we were not about plinky plinky elevator jazz, so we wanted to say what the show was about on the tin so to speak.
Now however, we think we've established that, so it's more now about making the show a cool, sometimes seedy, place to drop by with your favourite smokes, get your tipple of choice, and close your eyes whilst nodding along with your fellow guests and saying things like, "far out mannnnnnnnnnnnn!" So, that is why the show and our chatroom are now both changing to "The Jazz Fusion Café."
We're also bringing the show more inline with our normal evening offerings, with a 7pm start time and last orders at 10pm. It'll still be, for the moment, once a month of the 4th Thursday of the month, but who knows, this too may change in the future.
After all, the thing is with jazz fusion, you can never allow structure and order to rule.
Deep mannnnnnnnnnnnnnnn.....
