As regular listeners will know, Rockin' Robin moves home shortly and as part of that, his server farm will have to be slowly dismantled, eventually moved, and then rebuilt.
Now, we have 24/7 cover for the CFR Rock Channel but logistically we can't cover both for the time being, so Xtra will be put into mothballs for a while, and all the Xtra shows will, from July 1st, be broadcast on the CFR Rock stream.
This will mean some changes to the website as well, which again will come into effect late Sunday night (June 30th) after Louise's DiVerse show on Classical Music. Because the description of what CFR Rock is doing for the next few months also needs to be incorporated into the page, and the home, schedule and show pages need massive changes, it has been simpler- especially with a nod to a switch back later on- to create a new set of, unpublished, pages for the channel, ready to switch over and replace the existing pages at midnight on Sunday 30th June.
The major changes of course will be that the CFR Rock and CFRXtra player pages will disappear as menu items, and be replaced with the single RevolutionONE player page. We're also going to use the exercise to overall the Home page dramatically in line with what we want to project.
This will simplify the menu bar and the content and explanation of where we're at for the next few months, but without anyone needing to change their internet radio settings and player apps.
As per the physical assets, as well as Rockin' Robin needing to relocate the base server farm, to cover the new combined channel effectively, the North's Studio A and Studio B will swapping over location and equipment over the next two weeks.
But don't worry, we have it all worked out. We think.
