Evi Vine's new album really is an ethereal experience. Sitting somewhere between This Mortal Coil and The Cocteau Twins, it's a fantastic journey.
Six tracks of haunting melodies, with swirling guitars. This is one album that you can put on and let it carry you away.
Starting with "I am waves" and "Afterlight" let the guitars, and Evi's vocals carry you off to another world. "Sabbath" pulls you back down to earth with a bang, powered along with a great guitar track and drums.
On to "My only son". Again we are cast away on the crest of Evi's vocals, with a keyboard accompaniment . Then on to the totally ethereal experince of "We are made of stars".
Finishing off the album with "Sad Song No. 9" again we are taken on another journey, building up to a crescendo of guitar, before leaving you wondering what has just happened.
A fantastic album, featuring Peter Yates (ex Nephilim) on guitars, Simon Gallup (The Cure) on bass amonst others.
