On Tuesday's Classical Corner we are going to celebrate The Russian Five (or the Mighty Five)! This was a group of Russian composers, namely Cesar Cui, Aleksandr Borodin, Mily Balakirev, Modest Mussorgsky and Nikolay Rimsky-Korsakov - who in the 1860s banded together in an attempt to create a truly national school of Russian music, free of the stifling influence of Italian opera, German lieder, and other western European forms. So there will be many tracks you will have heard and a few new ones to many of you.
Hope you can join me at Midday on Tuesday, or as they say in Russian Dobro pozhalovat vmeste (you are welcome along).
